Andy had an impact on thousands of students, new and experienced teachers and school leaders. Professionally he was, first and foremost, a teacher who believed in his students and the power of education. Andy always looked out for those who were part of the Denbigh Alliance family, he would remember former students and their families without hesitation. He could recall stories about things students had said or done many years ago and regularly had an email or document that would prove this to be completely accurate. One example was even kept in his wallet which he would produce with a smile whenever asked about it. His experience and knowledge has benefited all of us who knew and worked with him. Andy believed in building schools and a Trust at the centre of our community and worked tirelessly to achieve this. He was proud of his schools and everything that they stood for and achieved. You could always rely on Andy to have an opinion or fill a silence. He had a great sense of humour and we enjoyed his company. Andy enjoyed any opportunity to welcome people to his schools and be the first to try something new. He always had music playing in his office via the trusty Alexa on his desk although “Alexa, stop.” quickly progressed to “Alexa, shut up!” on more than one occasion. He was passionate, dedicated and much loved, and will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with Andy’s family at this devastating time.
