I was really sorry to hear about Andy Squires' death. He had a huge impact on my life and was the first inspiration for my career in science - I wouldn't be where I am today, in a life sciences job I love, without him. He put so much time and effort in, not just in lessons but also through organising the Thursday lecture series, trips to laboratories and the A-level field trip, and, for me personally, going the extra mile to co-ordinate a lab placement, all of which really showed me that science was something you can do for a living. He had an infectious enthusiasm for new facts, new ways of learning (he was the best smart board user) and most importantly for very bad jokes and laughing at funny science words. It was so nice that he also kept in touch and I'm glad he invited me back to Denbigh recently - he was obviously very proud of how the school was doing. I won't be able to see a Far Side comic without thinking about him. RIP and condolences to all of his family.
