Andy (though in my head, he will always be 'Mr Squires') is the reason I am a teacher. When I'm asked why I do this job, I tell the story of the teacher who never gave up on me. Who moved me into his form to keep an eye on me and called me in the morning to make me get out of bed - even though he was Deputy Head and had so many more things on his plate. That support was constant, even when I started my PGCE nearly a decade ago up to just a few months ago when he contacted me to congratulate me on a promotion. His faith in his students and unwavering kindness will be so very missed. I can only hope to be half the teacher he was.
